The School of Agricultural Economics and Rural Development Held Alumni Discipline Forum


The Alma Mater is a permanent harbour for alumni, and alumni are its warm family members. On May 17 and 18, 2025, alumni from across the country gathered in the university to reminisce about their campus life.

On the afternoon of May 18, the School of Agricultural Economics and Rural Development successfully held an Alumni Discipline Forum. Discussions focused on addressing the impact of rising global uncertainties in the current macro-economic landscape on international trade, the optimization and re-design of international rules for global agricultural governance, and the participation of alumni-led enterprises in international agricultural governance. The meeting was chaired by Tang Zhong, former Dean of the College, former Party Committee Secretary, and President of the Alumni Association Branch. He warmly welcomed alumni and expressed gratitude for their long-standing support. Professor Tang pledged that the Alumni Association Branch would continue to serve as a bridge, providing better services to foster mutual growth between alumni and the college.  IMG_256

Zeng Bingjian, Director of the University’s Domestic Cooperation Office and Party Committee Secretary of the College, stated that alumni have contributed to society through their achievements, bringing honor to the Alma Mater. The college will further build platforms for alumni engagement to strengthen ties and collaboration between alumni and the college.  IMG_256

Huang Hanquan, a 1992 master's alumnus and 2003 doctoral alumnus, now President of the Chinese Academy of Macroeconomic Research (National Development and Reform Commission Macroeconomic Research Institute), shared insights on the macroeconomic trends, current challenges, and policy recommendations for this year. He called for collective efforts to develop new guiding principles for restructuring the global trade system and advancing a renewed economic globalization.  IMG_256

Xu Xianglin, a 1979 undergraduate alumnus and Professor at the Economics Department of the Party School of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, addressed about rural land systems, proposing that while leveraging the strengths of contracted management, rural work must strengthen the weak link of collective and unified management. Mao Xuefeng, Deputy Dean of the College, expressed hope that alumni would continue supporting the growth of Alma Mater and engage in closer collaborations across various fields to contribute to its progress. 

The meeting was attended by Lyu Yuanyuan, Deputy Party Committee Secretary of the College, and nearly 40 alumni.
