On the afternoon of August 19, 2023, the Youth Scholar Session of the 2023 China Agricultural and Forestry Economics and Management Academic Annual Conference and the China Youth Agricultural Economist Forum was held at Northwest A&F University. This forum, co-hosted by the Youth (Work) Committee of the Chinese Association of Agricultural Economics, the Youth Scholar Committee of the Chinese Association of Agricultural Technical Economics, and the Youth Work Professional Committee of the Chinese Society for Rural Development, selected six outstanding young scholars through unit recommendations, expert reviews, and organizer evaluations. These scholars, listed in alphabetical order, are: Ruan Junhu (Northwest A&F University), He Ke (Huazhong Agricultural University), Gao Ming (Rural Economy Research Center of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs), Gao Yuan (Renmin University of China), Huang Wei (Peking University), and Liang Qiao (Zhejiang University).

The forum was jointly chaired by Zhu Xinkai, Standing Committee Member of the Party Committee and Vice President of Renmin University of China, Convener of the Agricultural Economics Discipline Review Group of the State Council Degree Committee, Vice President and Director of the Youth (Work) Committee of the Chinese Association of Agricultural Economics; Zhao Minjuan, Vice President of Northwest A&F University and Vice President and Deputy Director of the Youth (Work) Committee of the Chinese Association of Agricultural Technical Economics; and Qiu Huanguang, Dean of the School of Agricultural Economics and Rural Development at Renmin University of China, Deputy Director and Secretary-General of the Youth (Work) Committee of the Chinese Association of Agricultural Economics, Director of the Youth Work Professional Committee of the Chinese Society for Rural Development, and Director of the Youth Scholar Committee of the Chinese Association of Agricultural Technical Economics. Si Wei, Dean of the College of Economics and Management at China Agricultural University, delivered the keynote report. The forum featured commentary by Chen Shuai, Tenured Associate Professor of the School of Public Administration at Zhejiang University, and Li Jian, Professor of the College of Economics and Management at Huazhong Agricultural University. The selected annual scholars presented their academic reports during the special session.
