On the morning of October 17, 2023, a delegation from French institutions specializing in viticulture and oenology, including Jo Cadilhon, Agricultural Counsellor at the French Embassy in China, Max Monot, Director of Sino-French Agricultural Education Cooperation at the French Ministry of Agriculture, and faculty from Bordeaux and Montpellier, visited our school for an exchange. The delegation was welcomed by Zeng Bingjian, Party Secretary of the School, Zheng Shi, Vice Dean, and Zhong Zhen, Vice Dean. Both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on enhancing educational cooperation in relevant fields.
Zeng Bingjian welcomed the delegation and briefly introduced the School of Agricultural Economics and Rural Development. He emphasized the school's strong disciplinary advantages and expressed hope for greater collaboration in education between China and France, leveraging each side's strengths to elevate the level of exchange and cooperation. Zheng Shi shared his expectations for future cooperation and offered specific suggestions for student exchanges. Zhong Zhen provided an in-depth explanation of potential collaboration in the wine sector, proposing enhanced market cooperation and joint training programs for agricultural professionals and skilled personnel.
Jo Cadilhon and Max Monot thanked Renmin University of China for the warm reception and highly praised the university's contributions to advancing Sino-French wine cooperation projects. Max Monot introduced the basic situation of French agricultural technical institutes and agricultural universities, highlighting their unique teaching model that integrates practical experience throughout the students' educational journey in viticulture and oenology. He expressed a strong desire for local French agricultural institutions to cooperate with Chinese counterparts. Jo Cadilhon emphasized the importance of strengthening communication and cooperation between the universities and pledged to continue supporting the progress of the collaborative projects.
During the meeting, Jean-Philippe Lachaize, Principal of the School of Viticulture and Oenology, General Education and Adult Education Center, and Corinne Reulet, Principal of the Bordeaux Gironde Agricultural and Vocational Education Public School, each introduced their respective institutions and welcomed the prospect of Chinese faculty and students visiting France for study tours and exchanges. Both parties delved into discussions on continuing education and academic cooperation in the wine sector, looking forward to high-quality, multi-field, and multi-level collaborations.
Also attending the meeting were Nathalie Madon, Deputy Director of Teaching at the School of Viticulture and Oenology, General Education and Adult Education Center, Liu Sai, Agricultural Affairs Officer at the French Embassy in China, Ding Kai, Director of the Preparatory Office of the Ningxia International College at Renmin University of China, Fu Limin, Deputy Director of the Department of Chemistry, and faculty members from the School of Agricultural Economics and Rural Development, including Sheng Jiping, Yu Kangkang, and Wang Xiangrui.
