To thoroughly study and implement the important speech spirit of President Xi Jinping during his inspection and research at our university, and to promote Xi Jinping's Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era into textbooks, classrooms, and students' minds, the college began offering "An Overview of Xi Jinping's Important Discourses on Agriculture, Rural Areas, and Farmers" to students across all undergraduate, master's, and doctoral programs in the fall semester of 2022. In 2023, efforts were initiated to compile "An Overview of Xi Jinping's Important Discourses on Agriculture, Rural Areas, and Farmers (Lecture Notes)." On the third anniversary of President Xi Jinping's inspection and research at Renmin University of China, the college organized a seminar on April 24th to discuss the compilation work of "An Overview of Xi Jinping's Important Discourses on Agriculture, Rural Areas, and Farmers (Lecture Notes)." Members of the Lecture Note Editorial Committee, including Dong Xiaodan, Kong Xiangzhi, Mao Xuefeng, Tang Zhong, Wang Sangui, Zeng Yinchu, and Zhong Zhen, as well as the editorial committee secretary Dayabin and Xiong Xuefeng, and research assistants attended the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Professor Zhong Zhen, Deputy Dean of the college.

Vice Dean Zhong Zhen pointed out that President Xi Jinping's important discourse on "agriculture, rural areas, and farmers" is a concrete manifestation of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era in the field of agriculture, rural areas, and farmers. Compiling the "Outline of Xi Jinping's Important Discourse on 'Agriculture, Rural Areas, and Farmers' Work (Lecture Notes)" (hereinafter referred to as the "Lecture Notes") is an important task in implementing the "three entries" of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, and it is also a significant measure to build an independent knowledge system for Chinese agricultural economics. The college should seize the opportunity presented by the compilation of the "Lecture Notes" to study and interpret President Xi Jinping's thoughts on "agriculture, rural areas, and farmers," introduce the Party's innovative theories to young students, and further develop high-quality courses and textbooks (Lecture Notes) that are characteristic of the new era and embody the grandeur of the Renmin University.

The attending editorial committee members unanimously agreed that the compilation of the "Lecture Notes" is of great significance. It is an important manifestation of fully implementing the Party's educational policy and fulfilling the fundamental task of cultivating virtue and nurturing talent. It can help young students in the field of agricultural and forestry economic management better learn and understand the ideological spirit and theoretical connotations of President Xi Jinping's important discourse on "agriculture, rural areas, and farmers." It can also enable students to truly comprehend the Party's policies on agriculture, rural areas, and farmers, gain a deeper understanding of their foundational status, and cultivate a strong sense of commitment to agriculture, rural areas, and farmers among agricultural economists. After discussing the basic principles of the "Lecture Notes," optimizing the writing outline, and analyzing the problems encountered during the writing process, the meeting concluded that: first, the compilation of the "Lecture Notes" must be based on President Xi Jinping's original works, texts, and words regarding "agriculture, rural areas, and farmers," deeply comprehending and accurately grasping their core meanings, essence, rich connotations, and practical requirements; second, the structure of the "Lecture Notes" should follow the content outline of "Excerpts from President Xi Jinping's Important Discourse on' Agriculture, Rural Areas, and Farmers '," covering key aspects such as the development thread of the discourse, the Party's leadership over "agriculture, rural areas, and farmers" work, building a strong agricultural country, comprehensive revitalization of the countryside, national food security, basic operating systems in rural areas, new types of agricultural operation systems, supply-side structural reform in agriculture, green development in agriculture, integrated urban-rural development, modernization of rural governance, excellent farming culture, farmers 'employment and entrepreneurship, theories and practices of targeted poverty alleviation, and solid progress toward common prosperity; third, the compilation of the "Lecture Notes" should focus on President Xi Jinping's important discourse on "agriculture, rural areas, and farmers," interspersing typical cases and setting up extended readings to achieve deep integration of discourse, theory, practice, and policy.

At the end of the meeting, the editorial board further emphasized the division of labor, format, content requirements, and work progress for the compilation of the "Lecture Notes", and established a standardized and regular mechanism for writing and discussion; it also called for more young teachers to participate in the course construction and note writing process, working together to cultivate new-era talents who best understand China's agricultural and rural management.
