At 9:00 a.m. on September 3rd, the grand commemoration marking the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War was held at Tiananmen Square in Beijing. General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, President of the People’s Republic of China, and Chairman of the Central Military Commission Xi Jinping delivered an important speech and reviewed the troops. The College of Agricultural and Rural Development at Renmin University of China promptly organized faculty and students to watch the live broadcast of the ceremony and military parade, immersing themselves in the solemn and inspiring atmosphere of national remembrance.

President Xi Jinping delivered an important speech. He stated that today’s solemn assembly, held to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, aims to remember history, honor the martyrs, cherish peace, and open up the future. He emphasized that the Chinese People’s War of Resistance was an integral part of the World Anti-Fascist War, and that the Chinese people made tremendous national sacrifices, making major contributions to safeguarding human civilization and defending world peace.

 

President Xi stressed that the Chinese people have always stood on the right side of history and on the side of human civilization and progress. China remains committed to the path of peaceful development and works with people around the world to build a community with a shared future for mankind. He called on people of all ethnic groups across the country to carry forward the great spirit of the War of Resistance, forge ahead with determination and courage, and unite in striving for China’s great transformation toward national rejuvenation through Chinese modernization.
