Visit by U.S. Embassy Official Shana Sherry to the School of Agricultural Economics and Rural Developmen



On the afternoon of April 17, 2024, Shana Sherry, an official from the Economic Section of the U.S. Embassy in China, visited the School of Agricultural Economics and Rural Development at Renmin University of China. Professors Wang Sangui and Zheng Fengtian met with Shana Sherry and her delegation. Both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on poverty alleviation and rural development.

Professors Wang Sangui and Zheng Fengtian warmly welcomed Shana Sherry and her delegation. They provided a brief overview of China's poverty alleviation measures and achievements, urban-rural integration initiatives, and the current status and goals of agricultural and rural modernization.

Shana Sherry expressed her gratitude to Professors Wang Sangui and Zheng Fengtian. She acknowledged the significant importance of China's efforts in poverty alleviation and rural development, especially after learning that China resolved the issue of absolute poverty in 2020. She looked forward to strengthening cooperation and exchanges on poverty alleviation and rural development in the future.

Accompanying Shana Sherry were Mr. Lu Zhen and Mr. Li Ye, assistants from the Economic Section of the U.S. Embassy in China. PhD students Shen Shaoxin and Bai Zijian, along with graduate students Wei Jinyang and Xie Yuke from the School of Agricultural Economics and Rural Development, also attended the meeting.
