Biography:
Dong Xiaodan, born in September 1978 in Baiquan County, Heilongjiang Province, holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics, a Master's degree in Management, and a Ph.D. in Management from Renmin University of China. She is currently an Associate Professor at the School of Agricultural and Rural Development and the Institute of Advanced Studies in Sustainable Development at Renmin University of China.
As a core member of various project teams, she has participated in several significant projects, including the National Social Science Fund Major Project "Research on Improving Social Management and Maintaining Social Stability Mechanisms—Research on the Causes and Resolution Mechanisms of Rural Confrontational Conflicts," the National Social Science Fund Key Project "Research on the Goals, Priorities, and Policies of Building a New Socialist Countryside," the Ministry of Education Emergency Project "Promoting Harmonious and Sustainable Development of China's Economy and Society under the Conditions of the National Financial Crisis through New Rural Construction," and the United Nations Development Programme "Comparative Study of Emerging Industrialized Countries." She has been a principal writer for several books, including "Eight Crises: China's Real Experience 1949-2009," "Understanding Southern Jiangsu," and "China's New Rural Construction Report." Her published papers include "The Industrialization with Chinese Characteristics and Chinese Experience" (Journal of Renmin University of China, 2011), "Research on the Institutional Economics of Poverty: Analysis of the Asymmetry of Institutional Costs and Benefits" (Economic Theory and Business Management, 2011), "Macroeconomic Fluctuations and Rural Governance Crisis" (Management World, 2008), "Community Rationality: A New Perspective to Solve the Dilemma of Agriculture, Rural Areas, and Farmers" (Journal of the Party School of the Central Committee of the CPC, 2010), and "The Change of China's Agricultural Development Direction and Policy Orientation: Based on the Perspective of International Comparative Studies" (Issues in Agricultural Economy, 2010). "Understanding Southern Jiangsu" won the second prize of the 12th Beijing Philosophy and Social Sciences Outstanding Achievement Award, and "Eight Crises: China's Real Experience 1949-2009" was rated as "2012-2013 Excellent Bestseller of the Whole Industry."
