Biography:
Ma Jiujie, born in 1967, is a professor and the Executive Deputy Director of the Institute of Rural Economy and Finance at Renmin University of China.
Ma Jiujie graduated with a Ph.D. from the Department of Agricultural Economics at Renmin University of China in 1996 and has been teaching at the university since then. In 1999, he studied at Nyenrode Business University in the Netherlands. In 2006, he was selected for the Ministry of Education’s "New Century Excellent Talents Support Program."
He serves as the Deputy Director of the Agricultural System Engineering Professional Committee of the Chinese Society of Systems Engineering, the Deputy Director of the Agricultural System Engineering Professional Committee of the Chinese Society of Agricultural Engineering, an executive director of the China Rural Finance Society, an executive director of the China Rural Economy Research Society, an executive director of the Cooperative Finance Professional Committee of the China Cooperative Economics Society, a director of the Agricultural Policy Finance Professional Committee of the China Finance Society, and a director of the Beijing Agricultural Economics Society.
Ma Jiujie has received several awards, including the Third Prize of Beijing Science and Technology Progress Award (1999, for research on modern agricultural sustainable development strategies, as a participant), the Excellent Teacher Award from China Economics and Management Academy (2001), the First Prize of the Science and Technology Achievement Award from the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (2006, for research on the early warning system for food and grain security, as a participant), and the "China Cooperative Economy Annual Person" Theoretical Contribution Award in 2008.
