On March 26, 2024, Professor Kong Xiangzhi conducted a special lecture for students on the topic of national food security. On the afternoon of November 1, 2023, the nineteenth lecture of the Agricultural Economics Forum and the "New Path for Agricultural and Forestry Economics and Management Disciplines" series was held in Room 931 of the Mingde Main Building. Researcher Jiang Changyun, Deputy Director of the Institute of Industrial Economics and Technological Economics at the China Academy of Macroeconomic Research, delivered an academic report titled "Accelerating the Construction of a Strong Agricultural Nation." The lecture was hosted by Professor Zhong Zhen and attended by over 30 faculty members and students, including Professor Kong Xiangzhi.

In his presentation, Researcher Jiang Changyun started with the connotation and types of a strong agricultural nation, highlighting that the "strength" of a strong agricultural nation lies in its scaled comparative advantage and strong competitiveness in the global agricultural arena. He further analyzed the common characteristics of the world's strong agricultural nations and the historical experiences and general rules for building such nations. The lecture explored the strategic pathways for accelerating the construction of a strong agricultural nation in China, emphasizing the importance, difficulty, and complexity of this endeavor. Jiang stressed the need to stay true to our roots, absorb external advancements, and look toward the future.

Finally, Researcher Jiang Changyun pointed out that current research still falls short of meeting the needs for accelerating the construction of a strong agricultural nation. He advocated for building a nation with strong supply security, technological and equipment strength, robust management systems, resilient industries, and strong competitive abilities. This should be approached with a unified national strategy, advancing comprehensively and providing solid support through high-quality strong agricultural provinces. The lecture was in-depth and insightful from a macro perspective, providing valuable insights to the attending faculty and students.
