Food security is a major strategic issue concerning the development of China's national economy, social stability, and national independence and confidence. Ensuring China's food security is of great significance for achieving the goal of building a moderately prosperous society in all respects, constructing a harmonious socialist society, and advancing the construction of a new socialist countryside. On March 26, 2024, Professor Kong Xiangzhi conducted a special lecture for students on the topic of national food security.
The lecture began with an introduction to food statistics, gradually explaining the current status and issues of adjustments in China's food statistics, the concept and goals of food security, and then delving into the food issues in China and the world. Professor Kong guided students in exploring methods to address China's food problems. Additionally, he provided an in-depth interpretation of General Secretary Xi Jinping's speeches on food security and the new era's food development strategy, enriching the academic lecture with substantial ideological and political content.
Through this lecture, students gained a deep understanding of the concept of food security, the problems of food security in China and the world, the importance of food security, and measures to ensure food security. This enhanced their awareness of food security. The lecture also prompted students to reflect on the practical question of what they, as university students, can do for national food security.
